Our Club at Work

The Haywood County Rotary Club is a service organization.  It not only contributes to the international work of Rotary but contributes to building community in Haywood County.

Below is a list of some of the activities made possible by the volunteer efforts of the Haywood Rotary Club and the proceeds from our Annual Auction, Banquet, and Benefit Drawing.

  • Reading to local preschool children on Dr. Seuss' birthday, and then donating books to them and their school.

  • Distributing boxes of food to needy Haywood County families at Christmas.

  • Providing scholarships and monthly guidance and support to high school seniors as part of the "Adopt-A-School" program.

  • Sponsoring the Partnerships in Education breakfast.

  • Fingerprinting all Haywood County kindergarten children and providing special information packets to parents as part of the McGruff Child Identification Program.

  • Preparing and serving meals monthly at the Open Door soup kitchen.

  • Providing local scholarships to attend the Students in Leadership Camp in Brevard, NC and sending students to the World Leadership Conference in NewYork.

  • Supporting the "Kids Voting" program in the local schools and staffing a voting booth for children on election days.

  • Honoring a high school student each month for exemplifying the Rotary ideal of "Service Above Self."

  • Sponsoring and/or supporting numerous community organizations including Folkmoot and Habitat for Humanity.

  • Providing water for an elementary school in rural India that currently has none.

  • Providing volunteer bell ringers to assist the Salvation Army during the holiday season.

  • Sponsoring a team for the Literacy Council's annual "Spelling Bee."

  • Sponsoring the annual Pisgah High School Academic Banquet honoring excellence in student performance.
