Why Join Rotary?                            How Do I Join Rotary?

Becoming a Rotarian

Membership in the Rotary Club of Haywood County is by invitation and with approval of the club membership. Rotary members are chosen to represent a wide cross-section of the community's business and professional life and are required to live or work in Haywood County. To become a Rotarian, you must be proposed for membership by a sponsor who is a club member in good standing. The sponsor submits an application to the club's Board of Directors.

Prior to being considered for club membership, the proper classification is determined based on the proposed member's vocation. The name and classification of the prospective member are then presented to the club membership along with a timeline for responding to the proposal. Upon successful completion of the application process, the new member is inducted into the club and is required to attend an orientation program.

Rotarians  have opportunity to:

  • To broaden their circle of friends and acquaintances in the community and are among those who give it life and vitality.
  • To identify contacts in every business and profession represented.
  • To develop their skills and talents in support and leadership roles.
  • To increase their knowledge of the world and an appreciation for the customs and character of its people.
  • To make friendly contacts in cities and towns throughout the world.
  • To gain stature and satisfaction from participating in an organization dedicated to service, vocational integrity, community and international goodwill and understanding.
  • To serve their community.
